Controls Family Overview – Control Stations, Panels, Devices

The ConSpec® Control Stations & Panels product range features housings for Class I, Div. 2 and NEMA 4X rated areas in stainless steel, painted steel or fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP). A wide variety of control operators can be accommodated, including LED pilot lights, push buttons, illuminated push-to-test buttons, control switches, ammeters, potentiometers, terminal blocks and operator lockouts.

The FXCS and XCS Series Control Stations and Panels product range includes copper-free aluminum SEAL-X® factory sealed and non-factory sealed enclosures housing numerous control devices. Up to a 15 gang XCS custom panel can be configured with push buttons, pilot lights, selector and tumbler switches, and much more.

The Fire Alarm Stations product range includes aluminum explosion-proof stations in pull-ring and break-glass models, plus non-metallic Class I, Div. 2 Red FRP stations that are also NEMA 4X rated.

The Ground Fault Interrupter product range includes explosion-proof and NEMA 3 rated factory sealed FXS and GFCS Series.

The Control Devices product range includes GN Series operators for installation in sheet metal or non-metallic enclosures, plus G Series custom control panel operators for use with explosion-proof or dust-ignition proof enclosures.

Controls Family - Overview

The Motor Starters product range features Prism® B7 Series across-the-line and combination explosion-proof and NEMA 4X rated starters, plus B7AD Series solid-state motor control centers. The universal design of each series accommodates a wide variety of manufacturer’s starter brands. Y7 Series explosion-proof magnetic line starters and combination motor starters house Cutler-Hammer or Square D starters. Many accessories (such as overload heaters) are available and ordered as separate line items.

The Manual Motor Starting Switches and Starters product range includes compact, explosion-proof factory and non-factory sealed switches, which are also NEMA 3 rated for wet, outdoor locations. XMSW Series explosion-proof and NEMA 3R rated enclosures house Cutler-Hammer full voltage, non-reversing manual line starters.

Distribution Equipment Family Overview- Circuit Breakers and Disconnect Switches

The Circuit Breaker product range includes Prism B7C Series explosion-proof and NEMA 4X rated enclosures with numerous outstanding features. When purchased as ‘enclosure only’, a variety of manufacturer’s circuit breakers can be field installed. XEC Series enclosures are explosion-proof with cast in conduit hubs. GCBB Series circuit breaker load centers feature an explosion-proof and NEMA 3R (weatherproof rated) compact rectangular housing, with threaded cover for easy access.

The Disconnect Switches product range includes DEDS Series dust-ignition-proof and NEMA 3R&4 rated units plus XFS/XEDS/XDS Series explosion-proof fusible and non-fusible models. Series DIS Non-metallic FRP disconnect switches are also available for Class I, Div. 2 and NEMA 4X service.

Panel Selection Factors

Basic information required when specifying panelboards is as follows:

  • Service Requirements – Voltage, phases and frequency
  • Interrupting Capacity
  • Amperage Rating of Main (Lugs only or Breaker)
  • Branch Breaker Requirements including
    • Type
    • Number
    • Poles
    • Amperage
    • GFCI Requirements
    • Quantity of each

Specifying and ordering a COMPLETE PANELBOARD ASSEMBLY requires the selection of three components.

  1. Basic Panel
  2. Branch Breakers
  3. Modifications and Options, as required.

This ordering methodology permits a wide variety of choices and maximizes circuit flexibility in the Killark panelboard series.

The Circuit Breaker Panelboards product range includes Prism B7L (Lighting Panelboards) and B7P (Power Panelboards), which are explosion-proof and NEMA 4X rated. Factory Sealed panelboards, D2L Series (Lighting) and D2PC (Lighting & Power), are for Class I, Div. 2 and NEMA 4 locations, with a NEMA 4X option available.

CS Series Control Stations and Panels
Use in Class I, Div. 2 and NEMA 4X applications for surface mounting of control devices

XCS Series Control Stations
Use in explosion-proof applications for surface mounting of control devices and in conjunction with starters for remote control of motors

  • Copper-free aluminum construction
  • From single gang stations up to 15 gang control centers, with open space between gangs for easy wiring from one cover to another
  • External sealing is required

XAL/XAS Series Fire Alarm Stations
Use in Class I, Div. 1 hazardous areas where emergency control of fire alarm or signal circuits is required

  • Copper-free aluminum housing with textured red powder epoxy finish
  • XAL (pull-ring) or XAS (break-glass) models available

CPX Series Non-Metallic Fire Alarm Stations
Use in Class I, Div. 2 and NEMA 4X rated areas for emergency control of fire alarm or signal circuits is required

FXS Series Ground Fault Control Stations
Use in Class I, Div. 1 and NEMA 3 areas to interrupt a circuit when a ground fault is detected

GFCS Series Ground Fault Control Stations
Use in Class I, Div. 1 and NEMA 3 areas to interrupt a circuit when a ground fault is detected

  • External push-to-test button and LED pilot light for monitoring
  • Includes 5ma ground fault circuit breaker to protect personnel and 30ma breaker for equipment protection
  • Copper-free aluminum housing
  • Factory sealed construction – eliminates need for external sealing
  • NEMA 3 (weatherproof) protection

GN Series Control Operators
For installation in sheet metal or non-metallic enclosures (not for use in explosion-proof or dust-ignition-proof enclosures). Class I, Div. 2 and NEMA 4X device ratings

  • Easy and precise installation – devices fit into standard 1.20” (30.5 mm) push button knockout. Tightening of retainer nut completes installation
  • Available with increased safety terminals or with wire leads for easy connection

G series Control Operators
For installation in explosion-proof or dust-ignition-proof enclosures

  • Available with short, long and extended barrels to use with different wall thickness of various enclosures
  • Threaded bodies are all ¾”-14 NPSM thread
  • Select from push buttons, pilot lights, illuminated push buttons, selector switches and specialty operators such as snap switches, potentiometers, rheostats, reset buttons, rotary or motor shafts and capillary seals. A variety of accessories such as rubber boots and lockouts are available.
